I’m Sandy Root of Root Acupuncture!
Most people assume I’ve always been an acupuncturist, but that’s far from the case. My first dream was to be a professional musician and composer - I’ve played guitar, viola, and drums. Eventually, I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology, followed by a few years in the restaurant service industry, then the corporate world… which I quickly realized wasn’t for me.
I’ve always been fascinated by natural healing, herbs, and food as medicine. As a kid, I even used to tell people to “pull their headaches out”- that’s how I got rid of mine! One day, flipping through a magazine in my favorite natural health shop, I stumbled upon acupuncture. The moment I read about it, something clicked, like every cell in my body lit up. Within two months, I had left my job and enrolled full-time in acupuncture school.
After graduating in 2009, I worked in a no-fault clinic and later a holistic center. While valuable, neither felt aligned with how I wanted to practice. So, I started the journey of opening my own practice in Union Square, NYC while also exploring part-time online work.
But it wasn’t until I moved to Miami Beach over a decade ago that I went all in and fully committed to building my acupuncture practice. Now, with a second location in Doral, I’m grateful every day to be supporting our South Florida community with this profound and time-honored medicine.
